Consciousness Education Project: Transformative Experiences after Two Years of Creative Work

May 14 @ 6:00 pm (BST) - 7:30 pm (BST)

The Galileo Commission are delighted to invite participants to this free webinar hosted as part of its Consciousness Education Project. Over the past two years, a dedicated group of educators has explored how consciousness can be meaningfully integrated into education across diverse settings, from universities to community-based programmes.

This 90-minute session will spotlight four educators who will share what they have been developing in practice and the changes emerging as a result. Their work provides concrete, grounded examples of how consciousness can be introduced in ways that are both practical and applicable.

Across these initiatives, a clear pattern is emerging: when learning incorporates direct experience and attention to inner life, it begins to transform learners from the inside out—shaping not only what they think, but also their sense of agency, meaning, and possibility. The session will offer practical approaches and reflections that participants can adapt to their own contexts, alongside insights into a broader shift already underway in education.

During the webinar, Joan Walton, Laurel Waterman, and Marjorie Woollacott will share their experiences of the creative work emerging from the project. They will also launch a new website, designed to share updates and provide a platform for educators to showcase their own work.

The programme will include a brief origin story of the Consciousness Education Project, a guided tour of the new website, and an invitation to join the network. Four subproject leaders will then present their work, alongside experiential exercises used in their respective contexts:

  • Keith Beasley — University of Bristol
Reintroducing “the inner” in higher education
Practical approaches to integrating inner experience, meaning, and sustainability into university learning environments.
  • Louise Livingstone — Heart Sense Research Institute
Learning to lead and live from the heart
A transformative approach rooted in heart intelligence, emotional awareness, and lived experience.
  • Adi Vickers — “The Hands That Move the Mustard Seed” (India)
Embodied consciousness education with rural children
A nature-based, movement-centred programme enabling children to experience consciousness directly and reimagine their identity beyond circumstance.
  • Annie Margaret — University of Colorado Boulder
Moving beyond materialism through experience-based learning
Exploring how students shift their understanding of consciousness through direct experience, social learning, and engagement with scientific anomalies.

This session offers a unique opportunity to engage with pioneering work at the intersection of consciousness and education, and to connect with a growing network of educators exploring transformative approaches to learning.
